Crab & Boar

Chieveley, Berkshire

The Crab and Boar only opened in April this year but is already a firm Berkshire inn favourite. Newly renovated throughout, it’s the ideal rustic pub-meets-boutique bolthole with stylish decor, impeccable food and luxury mod cons minus any stuffiness.

The mix of fresh seafood (the ‘Crab’) and seasonal field-to-fork game (the ‘Boar’) hits all the right notes – here you can choose to sup fine wines with oysters or a real ale and game pie, their menu caters for all. The location also makes it a haven for shooting and fishing parties with no less than 14 rooms to choose from. Whilst rooted in glorious British traditions, it has just the right amount of modern decadence to make it ideal for style seekers, city breakers and locals alike.

  • The award-winning food (they have 2 rosettes under their belt) is hard to beat - the perfect balance between fresh seafood and field-to-fork countryside
  • The newly renovated rooms are rustic country chic personified and some include hot tubs
  • The garden is nothing short of gargantuan - ideal for garden parties galore
Things to Do

Since its modern rustic makeover, each of the stunning 14 rooms have been transformed into beautiful countryside sanctums filled with everything from mahogany four poster beds, rich wool throws and even private hot tubs. This combined with fresh milk delivered to your door and a warm and welcoming smile when you arrive makes a stay here on par with any boutique hotel.

Eat & Drink

Stylish surroundings and beautiful sweeping views of the Berkshire countryside aside, the real epicurean draw here is on the plate. Perfectly positioned to make the most of local ingredients from both field and shore, the menu changes with the seasonal tides and feature a mix of classic pub favourites and creative fare. Tuck into crab tortellini, pork belly and lobster with fries in the restaurant or hang out in pub and snack on scotch eggs or oysters.

Meet & Celebrate

With 14 rooms, a pub, restaurant, vast garden and plenty of nooks and crannies in-between, there’s no shortage of places to meet, dine and celebrate here. Host a summer’s soiree in the garden or get cosy at the long table in the private dining room which can hold up to 14 for a delicious dinner party.
