The enormous and beautifully elegant barn gives the atmosphere of a luxurious countryside farmstead with sumptuous leather chairs, restored wooden tables in all shapes and sizes and decorative wooden crates lined with candles. An area famed for its chalk stream rivers, decadent fish dishes play a major role on the menu here, all of which are smoked and cured on site. Named after the lakes, brooks and rivers that lie nearby and decorated in calming tones of pale green, creams and greys, The Bourne Valley Inn’s nine elegant rooms exude rustic charm. Flop onto the sumptuous Feather & Black pillows and bedding and fall asleep to the sound of the Hampshire countryside. Little touches such as a tea tray with Teapigs tea and coffee cafetières give a homely feel while the three ground floor rooms offer beds and water bowls for any canine companions. The twin ‘Keepers’ room and double ‘Priory’ room can be connected to provide extra privacy and space – perfect for families or large groups.

In an area rich with rivers brimming with trout and other freshwater catches, it comes as no surprise that fish is a specialty here and The Bourne Valley Inn do all their smoking and curing onsite. Local game is also a menu mainstay, giving a farm fresh twist to traditional classics such as their pheasant scotch egg, alongside some devilishly tempting British desserts worthy of their AA rosette award.

The enormous Barn offers a fabulously rustic venue for any event and can be arranged to accommodate parties both big and small. Enjoy an intimate party for up to 16 in their private room or hire the whole thing and host a lavish party of up to 80 guests. There’s also a private garden that is perfect for a summer champagne reception or an ideal spot to try some of the fine Cuban cigars and whisky from behind the bar.
