Shooting Splendour in the South Downs

Shooting Splendour in the South Downs

The glorious rolling green and brooding forests of the South Downs make it a truly magical location for a countryside shoot. Pheasants, wood pigeon and deer abound in this part of the world so grab your guns and head out to enjoy some shooting splendour.

Join Czar of Russia, King Alfonso of Spain and other regality at the King’s Walk Shoot, a driven pheasant and partridge shoot where they start the day with a coffee boost and end with a very well-deserved cream tea. Or try the regal Uppark shooting estate, a restored stately home in West Sussex that gives a grand opportunity to shoot in an area of astounding natural beauty.

Unwind and revitalise after a long day’s shoot with a visit to the luxurious at White Horse in Chilgrove, voted one of the top shooting lodges in Britain by Country & Town House Magazine. Here you can savour local venison, butchered and aged onsite, or perhaps some native Chilgrove wood pigeon whilst sipping from a choice of opulent burgundies or rare vintages from their wine cellar. Finish off the evening with a cigar and artisan G&T of local Chilgrove Gin on the open air terrace or cosy-up in one of their supremely comfortable Stag rooms complete with outdoor hot tubs – perfect for soaking those sore muscles – before slipping into Egyptian cotton sheets.

Highlights

  • Dine on deliciously sumptuous local game including venison and wood pigeon
  • Revitalise in rustic elegance in the hot tubs at The White Horse
  • Sample unique local fare such as artisan Chilgrove Gin and fine cigars
